Andrew was one of our first success stories.
Finding himself homeless in mid-2022 Andrew was welcomed into the Emmaus Salford community and had a warm, safe place to stay whilst trying to get back on his feet. Whilst being a companion (resident who has experienced homelessness) Andrew had access to individual support, training and personal development to gain the skills and resilience he needed to move forward positively in their lives.
Through our partnership with Emmaus, we were quickly able to put Andrew through his H&S Awareness course quickly followed by his CSCS test. Andrew committed fully to the training and achieved top marks.
As a result of our close working relationship with Willmott Dixon we were then able to place Andrew on site in Bolton starting off slowly at two days per week then increasing steadily to full time. This allowed Andrew to bed in at his own pace. He is now well on the way to getting the keys to his own front door.
Jackie Smith, Community Director from Emmaus had this to say:
“Our recent partnership with We Are Footprint, has enabled an opportunity for work with Willmott Dixon for companion Andrew. This has provided the next positive step in his journey. Andrew has received the vital support needed to enable him to go back into the work place and thrive, each day he has been work ready and highly motivated and this has only been made possible by the support provided at site by Wilmott Dixon. We are so grateful for this opportunity being made available to Andrew, who’s ambition is to gain full time employment and once again have his own home.”
