Rosie McLaren, the Social Value representative at Willmott Dixon, has been collaborating with Kyle since 2022. Their journey began with the Groundwork Greater Manchester course at HMP Forest Bank, where Rosie identified Kyle's potential. Following his participation in the program, Kyle was offered a labouring role at Willmott Dixon's Upperbanks project in Rochdale upon his release.
Despite facing personal challenges, Kyle remained determined to turn his life around positively and steer clear of the prison system. Unfortunately, circumstances led to Kyle serving time at HMP Berwyn to complete his sentence. However, this setback didn't deter Kyle from pursuing his aspirations.
This week, we're delighted to share that Kyle has embarked on a new chapter by starting work as a labourer at Spindles in Oldham, his hometown. Kyle's story reflects his resilience, positive attitude, and eagerness to build a meaningful career.
At Willmott Dixon, we're committed to supporting individuals like Kyle in their journey towards a brighter future. Through our partnership with Groundwork Greater Manchester and We Are Footprint, we've established a robust support network to ensure Kyle's success. This collaborative effort exemplifies our dedication to making a tangible difference in people's lives.
We extend our gratitude to all our partners who have played a crucial role in Kyle's journey, including Nicola Tyson-Lightfoot, Paul Higginson, Jade Crowe, Chris Coward AREC, Pippa Holland, Jack Overson, Ryan Ormonde MCIOB, Daniel Mitchell MCIOB, and Oldham Council.
Together, we're paving the way for individuals like Kyle to thrive and achieve their full potential, breaking free from the cycles of incarceration and creating opportunities for a brighter tomorrow.
