Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of Design Activities: Ensure seamless communication between all design teams, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Design Management: Oversee the preparation, revision, and completion of design documents, ensuring compliance with project standards and regulations.
  • Technical Review: Review and assess design proposals, ensuring that the designs meet quality standards and are feasible within the construction process.
  • Schedule Management: Monitor the design development and ensure that milestones are met within project timelines.
  • Budget Management: Assist in tracking design costs and ensuring the project stays within budget.
  • Site Liaison: Attend site meetings and provide support to the project team, ensuring that design issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with project managers, contractors, and clients, ensuring all design-related matters are addressed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Design Coordinator within the construction industry.
  • Education: A degree or HNC in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction design principles, regulations, and processes.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify design issues and find practical solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in reviewing design documentation and ensuring project requirements are met.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application in construction projects.
