Key Responsibilities:
- Coordination of Design Activities: Ensure seamless communication between all design teams, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Design Management: Oversee the preparation, revision, and completion of design documents, ensuring compliance with project standards and regulations.
- Technical Review: Review and assess design proposals, ensuring that the designs meet quality standards and are feasible within the construction process.
- Schedule Management: Monitor the design development and ensure that milestones are met within project timelines.
- Budget Management: Assist in tracking design costs and ensuring the project stays within budget.
- Site Liaison: Attend site meetings and provide support to the project team, ensuring that design issues are resolved promptly and efficiently.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with project managers, contractors, and clients, ensuring all design-related matters are addressed.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Design Coordinator within the construction industry.
- Education: A degree or HNC in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction design principles, regulations, and processes.
- Software Skills: Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify design issues and find practical solutions.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in reviewing design documentation and ensuring project requirements are met.
Desirable:
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Knowledge of relevant construction codes, standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and its application in construction projects.
