The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
- Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to ensure financial efficiency.
- Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects from a financial perspective.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate pricing and budgeting.
- Prepare tender documents and assist in the tendering process by evaluating bids and negotiating contracts.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects.
- Provide regular reports on project costs and forecasts to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, building regulations, and health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential.
- Proven experience in quantity surveying or cost management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly in cost control.
- Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional membership (e.g., RICS).
